The Arqiva Schools Radio Award
(In association with the National Schools Radio Network and Vision Charity)
Prize
The winning school will receive a trophy plus a cheque for £1,000 to be spent specifically on radio projects within the school. The winning entrants will receive an expenses paid visit to a local radio station.
Category introduction
This is a new award presented to recognise original work by pupils aged 11–18 years in a school or college. Working under the supervision of a member of staff, pupils will create, produce and broadcast a ‘radio programme’ as a contribution to the National Schools Radio Network (www.schoolsradio.com).
Schools Radio is an initiative by the Vision Charity (www.visioncharity.co.uk) designed to include and involve all children in all schools. The Schools Radio objective is to help improve media literacy, self confidence, verbal, written and technical presentation skills, and specifically to provide a level playing field for those children in schools with dyslexic and visual disabilities.
Judging criteria and conditions of entry

- The decision of the judges on all matters is final and without appeal.
- Each entry must be made on the official www.schoolsradio.com entry form in the name of the school or college. The information provided is vital to the competition but does not form part of the judging process.
