The Trustees of SchoolsRadio.com today announced the winners of The 2012 Sony Awards for Schools Radio.
These awards are made for outstanding programme excellence in both entertainment programming and documentary and feature programmes.
The winner of the 2012 Sony Award for Entertainment Programming is
The Culverhay School in Bath for their programme ‘Drivetime with Luke and Tom.
The winner of the 2012 Sony Award for Feature/Documentary Programming is Kents Hill Junior School Radio Club in Essex for their programme ‘Canvey Flood’.
The participating pupils from the winning schools will be invited to the Sony headquarters to see the latest technical developments on 6 March and the supervising teachers will be invited to the UK Sony Radio Academy Awards to be presented at the Grosvenor House on 14 May.
The judges said that the competition this year had been the strongest in the history of the awards with a record number of entries submitted. The quality of many of the entries was outstanding and they hoped even more schools would be persuaded to introduce radio production into their school and encourage even greater number of entries next year.
We are determined to help school students develop their own radio in the easiest way possible.
